This has been in the works for a while now, so I\u2019m excited to finally share that I\u2019ve been given the opportunity to take Meta\u2019s pioneering public policy work in Canada to the global stage as the company\u2019s new Global Policy Campaigns Strategy Director!<\/p>\n
I am excited by the prospect of working across the company, both in Silicon Valley and with regional colleagues around the world, to help better inform and build greater understanding of the value of Meta\u2019s products and services, and of the Internet more generally.<\/p>\n
As many friends will know, I have long believed that we could be having a more nuanced and constructive public conversation about the future of the Internet. While we must acknowledge and address important questions about the proper balance between expression and security, privacy and innovation, and cultural sovereignty and the global economy, we should not lose sight of the fact that the Internet has further democratized societies, unleashed significant productivity and economic growth, and helped build and strengthen communities big and small. I hope this role will help catalyze important conversations about these issues at an even greater scale, in particular as we look towards the metaverse and the creator economy.<\/p>\n
I am so proud of what we have accomplished in Canada, and can\u2019t help but share some fond memories \ud83d\ude42. Over the last few years, I\u2019ve had the privilege to help develop programs such as the Facebook Canadian Election Integrity Initiative, #CanadaPerforms, the Facebook-Canadian Press News Fellowship, and efforts to promote vaccine acceptance through our partnership with public health authorities. I am excited to see what the Canadian Public Policy team does next.<\/p>\n
