David Eby is the Premier of British Columbia. He is the top elected official whose government is advancing the modern treaty process and the Public Accounts listing of more than 334600 acres of provincial Crown land as commitments for transfer to First Nations.
Spencer Chandra Herbert is the Minister of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation. He is the minister in charge of the Te’mexw Treaty negotiations that propose transferring Hatley Castle and Park, the two downtown Victoria parcels assessed at 24.8 million dollars and 22.3 million dollars, Discovery Island Marine Provincial Park and Sooke Mountain Provincial Park to the Songhees Nation and the other four Te’mexw Nations.
Brenda Bailey is the Minister of Finance. She is the minister responsible for the 2025/26 Public Accounts that formally record the provincial Crown land obligations including the large commitments to groups such as Kitsumkalum and Kitselas as well as the Te’mexw portion.
Rebecca Alty is the federal Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations. She represents the Government of Canada as a full negotiating party in the Te’mexw process that includes the proposed transfer of federal Crown land such as Hatley Park.
Ron Sam is the Chief of the Songhees Nation. He is the lead representative of the Nation that is set to receive Hatley Castle and Park along with the downtown Victoria parcels under the proposed Te’mexw treaty.
Kerry Carlick is the President of the Tahltan Central Government. He leads the Tahltan side of the foundation agreement talks involving asserted rights and title over approximately 96000 square kilometres of northwestern British Columbia.
These are the principal figures currently participating in and advancing the specific land commitments and negotiations.
